Why Order Galvanized Rectangular Tubing From Us

01

Sizes Read the Same Way Every Time

We confirm width × height × wall, in mm or inch, before we quote. No mix-ups between 100×50 and 50×100 on a cut list.

02

Straight Lengths for Long Spans

Rectangular tube often runs as purlins and rails over long spans. We check straightness on each lot and bundle tight to stop bending in transit.

03

Clear Specifications and Bundle Labels

Tube is supplied to agreed sizes, walls, coatings and standards. Each bundle is labelled, so you can check it against your order on arrival.

04

Coating to Match the Site

Pre-galvanized 60–275 g/m² or hot-dip 300–600 g/m². We suggest the coat once we know where the frame will stand.

Galvanised Rectangular Tube Puts the Steel Where the Load Is

A rectangular section is stiffer about its long side. Set it on edge, and it carries far more load than a square tube of the same weight. That makes galvanised rectangular tube the efficient choice for beams, purlins, rails and trailer chassis.

The flat faces are easy to bolt, weld and clad. The zinc coat removes the paint step on most outdoor frames. You save steel, and you save labor.

How to Specify Galvanized Rectangular Tubing

Write the Size in One Order

Most suppliers write width × height × wall, long side first. So 100×50×3 means a 100 mm long side, 50 mm short side and 3 mm wall. If your drawing puts the short side first, say so. A swapped size is a common, costly mistake.

For inch sizes, write the wall in mm or decimal inch, not only gauge. That way we both read the same thickness.

Turn the Long Side Toward the Load

A 100×50 tube set on edge is about three times stiffer than the same tube laid flat. For purlins and beams, put the long side vertical. For handrails and frames that take load from the side, turn it the other way.

If you are replacing a channel or an angle, rectangular tube often lets you drop one size. It also resists twisting far better. That helps on trailers and long rails.

When Square Tube Is the Better Choice

Choose square tube when load comes from both directions, such as columns and posts. Choose rectangular when the load mostly comes from one side, such as beams, rails and purlins. See Galvanized Square Pipe & Tube for square sizes.

Pre-Galvanized or Hot-Dip

Rectangular sections for indoor frames and furniture work well pre-galvanized. For purlins, carports, solar rails and farm buildings, choose hot-dip. If you need a structural standard and a heavy wall, hot-dip is usually the only option.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is GI rectangular pipe the same as galvanized rectangular tube?

Yes. "GI rectangular pipe" is the common name in Asia and Africa. "Galvanized rectangular tube" is common in the US and Europe. Both are sized by width × height × wall. Neither uses NPS.

What is the largest galvanized rectangular tube you supply?

Up to 400×200 mm with walls up to 16 mm. Large sections are hot-dip galvanized after forming. Tell us your length, since large tubes may need special loading.

Can you punch holes in rectangular tubing before galvanizing?

Yes. We punch, notch and cut before hot-dip galvanizing, so the holes get zinc too. Send a drawing with hole positions and tolerances.

How much does galvanized rectangular tube cost?

Price depends on size, wall, coating and quantity. Steel and zinc prices move it weekly. Send your list, and we will quote within 2–4 working hours. Quotes are valid for 3 days.
