Which Material Fits Your Project?

Start from the environment and the budget, not the grade list. Here is how we usually narrow it down with you.

If your project needs…

Look at

Why

Lowest cost per ton, painted or used indoors

Carbon steel plate

Strong and easy to weld; needs paint or coating outdoors

Rust protection at a moderate cost

Galvanized steel sheet

Zinc protects the base steel; pick zinc weight by site

A finished color with no painting on site

PPGI sheet

Painted on the coil line, ready to install

Food contact, chemicals or a visible metal finish

Stainless steel sheet or plate

Corrosion resistance comes from the alloy itself

Our view after many export orders: don't pay for stainless where galvanized will last the design life. But don't use galvanized where cut edges sit in salt spray or acid. In those spots, the savings disappear at the first repair.

Sheet or Plate: Where Is the Line?

On our site, sheet means thinner material and plate means heavy sections. For stainless, we treat 6 mm and above as plate. Mills and markets draw this line a little differently, so give us the thickness rather than the word.

A few quick pointers:

0.5–1 mm steel sheet suits panels, cladding and appliance parts. Galvanized and PPGI cover most of these jobs.

1.5–3 mm, for example a 2 mm steel sheet, is the usual range for enclosures, ducts and bent brackets.

6 mm and up is plate territory: base plates, tank walls and machine frames.

Processing Before Shipping

You can buy sheet ready to use, not just as raw stock.

Cut to length: we level coil and shear it into sheets, 0.25–16 mm thick (up to 20 mm on request) and up to 2000 mm wide.

Laser cutting and bending: a 6 kW fiber laser on a 6000 × 2000 mm bed, plus CNC press brakes. See our steel processing capabilities.

Surface finishing: No.4 and HL brushing, and polishing up to 8K mirror on stainless sheet.

Cutting here usually costs you less than cutting at destination. You ship only what you use.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between steel sheet and steel plate?

It is mainly thickness. Thin, flat material is called sheet, and heavy sections are called plate. For stainless we use 6 mm as the split. Other markets may say plate from 3 mm or 5 mm. To avoid confusion, quote the exact thickness in mm or inches in your RFQ.

Can I combine different steel sheets in one order?

Yes. You can mix carbon, galvanized, stainless and PPGI sheet on one container. List each item with grade, thickness × width × length and tonnage. We confirm stock sizes first, then plan production for the rest so everything loads together.

Do you sell steel sheets cut to size?

Yes. We cut coil to your sheet length on our cut-to-length line. For parts, we laser cut from your DXF or DWG drawing. Send the drawing, grade, thickness and quantity per part for a quote.

How do I get a price for steel sheet or plate?

Prices move with raw material costs, so we quote per order. Send the material, grade, thickness × width × length, surface or coating, quantity and destination port. For standard products, we reply within 2–4 working hours.
