Why Buy PPGI Sheets From Us

01

Thickness Written Two Ways

Every quote shows base metal thickness and total coated thickness. You compare our 0.40 with another 0.40 on equal terms.

02

Profiles Rolled to Your Market

We run 150 roofing profiles on our roll formers. Send a photo or drawing of your local profile, and we match the pitch and rib height.

03

Length to the Millimetre

Sheets are cut to the length on your roof plan. That means fewer end laps, fewer joints and less waste on site.

04

Packed for the Last Kilometre

Each bundle has edge guards, waterproof wrapping and skids for forklift handling. Sheets arrive without scratches from rubbing in transit.

A PPGI Sheet Supplier With Real Data

MTS is a steel group in Wuxi, Jiangsu, with a 60,000 m² site for production, warehousing and processing. Our colour coating line paints 15,000 tons a month. We keep 4,000 tons of PPGI in stock (out of 80,000 tons in total). Each order comes with a certificate showing film thickness, gloss and bend test results.

Pre Painted Galvanized Iron Sheets, Ready to Install

A PPGI sheet, or PPGI steel sheet, is a cut length of pre painted galvanized steel. It is sold flat or roll-formed into a profile. In India, the Gulf and East Africa, it is often a pre painted GI sheet or painted GI sheet. Pre painted galvanized iron sheets is common too. British spelling gives pre painted galvanised iron sheet. In the UK and Commonwealth markets, it is often a colour coated sheet. All describe the same product.

Sheet is how most PPGI reaches a building site. Coil goes to factories with roll formers. Sheets go straight to roofers, builders and fabricators. They arrive painted, cut and shaped, so the crew only fixes them.

What paint system the sheet carries is a separate choice.

Trapezoidal PPGI Roof Sheet

Higher ribs for longer spans between purlins. The common choice for warehouses, factories and farm buildings.

Red glazed tile profile PPGI roof sheets

Glazed Tile Profile Sheet

Pre painted corrugated sheet shaped like clay tiles. Used for villas, houses and pitched roofs.

PPGI Plain Sheet

PPGI Plain Sheet

Flat sheets cut to length, no profile. For flashings, ridges, partitions, signs and fabricated parts.

How to Buy PPGI Roof Sheet and Plain Sheet Without Overpaying

Sheet buyers face a different set of traps than coil buyers. Thickness is quoted in confusing ways. Profiles change cover width. Small quantity mistakes become a short roof on site. Here is how we walk customers through an order.

BMT vs TCT: The Thickness Trap

BMT is base metal thickness, the steel alone. TCT is total coated thickness, steel plus zinc plus paint on both sides. On a PPGI roof sheet, the gap is often 0.04–0.06 mm.

Some markets quote roofing by TCT. So “0.40 mm” from one supplier can be 0.35 mm of steel. Another supplier’s “0.40 mm” is 0.40 mm steel. The first costs less per sheet, but it is weaker and lighter.

Always ask which one a quote uses. When you resell, label your stock clearly. Your customers compare too.

Choosing a Profile

Corrugated sheet is the cheapest and easiest to curve. It suits houses, fences and short spans. Pre painted corrugated sheet is still the default roof in much of Africa and South Asia.

Trapezoidal profiles have deeper ribs. They carry loads across wider purlin spacing. For warehouses and factories, they usually save steel in the frame.

If your market has a local profile everyone knows, match it. Replacement sheets must fit existing roofs. A photo with a ruler across two ribs is often enough for us to check.

How Many PPGI Sheets for a Roof?

Work out each roof slope separately.

  • Sheets across = slope width ÷ cover width, rounded up
  • Sheet length = rafter length + eave overhang
  • If one sheet cannot span the slope, add an end lap of 150–200 mm

Example: a slope 12 m wide with an 840 mm cover needs 15 sheets across. If the rafter is 6 m, order 15 sheets at 6.1 m.

Ordering exact lengths beats cutting on site. Site cuts leave bare edges and waste paint. Factory lengths arrive with clean shear edges.

Plain Sheet: Flat Means Handling Care

PPGI plain sheet has no ribs to stiffen it. Long flat sheets bend under their own weight if lifted from one end. Lift with two people or a spreader bar. Stack on flat skids, not on purlins or bricks.

Flat PPGI sheets can be formed into flashings and trims using a sheet metal folding machine. Consider protective film to help prevent scratches during fabrication and handling, particularly for dark colours or matt finishes.

Cut Edges and Swarf

Every PPGI sheet has two cut ends. The zinc protects them, but only if nothing helps rust along. Hot metal swarf from angle grinders burns into paint and rusts within weeks. Use nibblers or shears on site. Sweep the roof after fixing.

Comparing PPGI Sheet Price Quotes

PPGI sheet price is quoted per ton, per sheet or per running metre. Turn every quote into price per square metre of cover. That is what you actually sell or install.

Then check four items. Is thickness BMT or TCT? What zinc coat is under the paint? What are the top and back film microns? Are bundles, film and skids included?

Pre painted galvanized steel sheet price depends on base steel and zinc, which move weekly. Pre painted GI sheet price also rises with thin gauges, special colours and PVDF. Send your lengths and quantities, and we quote within 2–4 working hours.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between PPGI sheet and GI sheet?

GI sheet is galvanized steel with bare zinc. PPGI sheet is the same steel with a factory paint system on top. The paint adds colour and an extra barrier. GI sheet is used where looks do not matter or where you paint later. For bare galvanized sheet, see Galvanized Steel Sheet.

What thickness of PPGI roof sheet should I order?

For homes and small buildings, 0.30–0.40 mm BMT is common. Warehouses with wider purlin spacing often use 0.45–0.50 mm. Your purlin spacing and local wind load decide. Always state whether you mean BMT or TCT.

Is PPGI colour coated sheet suitable for coastal areas?

Yes, with the right specification. Choose a heavier zinc coat, at least Z180, and an HDP or PVDF top coat. Fix with stainless or coated screws. Rinse salt off sheltered areas once in a while, as rain does not reach them.

Can I cut PPGI sheets on site?

Yes. Use shears, nibblers or a cold-cutting saw. Avoid abrasive discs. Their hot sparks burn into the paint and start rust spots. Touch up cut edges in harsh climates with paint from the same colour range.

How do I choose among PPGI sheet manufacturers?

Ask for a recent certificate with BMT, TCT and film thickness values. Ask whether they roll profiles in house. Ask for a sample cut from production, not a showroom piece. A good PPGI sheet supplier answers all three quickly.

What is a prepainted galvanized steel sheet used for besides roofing?

Wall cladding, fencing, site hoardings, container houses, cold rooms, ceilings and garage doors. Flat sheets are also folded into gutters, ridges and flashings.
