DX51D Z100

DX51D Z100 Galvanized Steel Coil and Sheet

We supply DX51D+Z100 galvanized steel in coil and sheet, 0.09 to 3.0 mm thick in coil, and from 0.25 mm in sheet. Z100 puts 100 g/m² of zinc on the strip, both sides combined. It is a cost-saving coat for painted and indoor parts.

Why Order DX51D Z100 From Us

01

Advice on the Coat, Not Just the Grade

If Z100 is too light for your climate, we will say so. If Z80 is enough, we will say that too.

02

Paint Lines Supported

For coil coaters, we match spangle, surface quality and passivation to your primer system. Our own color coating line runs on DX51D Z100 base too.

03

Steady Repeat Supply

Your monthly Z100 coils come from our own continuous hot-dip line in Wuxi, 20,000 tons a month. Surface and coat stay consistent across orders.

8–12 Working Days Lead Time

DX51D+Z100 ships in 8–12 working days, and faster for sizes in stock.

What Z100 Means on DX51D Steel

In DX51D+Z100, DX51D is the steel grade and Z100 is the zinc coat. “Z” means pure zinc. “100” means at least 100 g/m², measured over both sides together. That is about 7 µm of zinc per side.

Z100 sits at the light end of everyday coats. It gives good protection indoors and under paint. It costs less than Z180 or Z275, because zinc is a large part of coil price. For painted panels, cabinets and indoor framing, it is often all the zinc you need.

Is Z100 Enough? Choosing the Coat for DX51D

Most buyers choose the grade carefully, then copy the coat from an old order. Yet the coat often decides the price and the service life more than the grade.

Where Z100 Works Well

Z100 is a good fit when the steel is painted or stays indoors. Color-coated roofing is a common case. The paint carries most of the weather load, and zinc protects cut edges and scratches. Many PPGI lines use DX51D Z100 base for that reason.

It also suits appliances, electrical cabinets and indoor framing. In a dry building, a light zinc coat lasts for decades.

Where Z100 Falls Short

Bare outdoor use is the main limit. Zinc wears away at a slow but steady rate outdoors. A thin coat simply runs out sooner. Coastal air, farm buildings and industrial sites wear zinc faster still.

For bare roofing, fences and outdoor framing, choose Z180 to Z275. A DX52D Z275 or DX51D+Z275 order costs more, but saves a failed job.

Z100 vs Z150 for Painted Outdoor Parts

For painted panels in a mild climate, Z100 is usually fine. In humid or coastal regions, Z150 gives extra edge protection. The price step from Z100 to DX51D Z150 is small compared to a warranty claim. If your customer offers a long paint warranty, check its minimum zinc coat.

Grade and Coat Are Two Separate Choices

DX51D handles bends and roll forming. For deeper pressing, choose DX53D steel or DX54D steel, with the same Z100 coat. The grade decides forming. The coat decides corrosion. How to pick the grade is covered on our DX51D Steel page.

Read the Coat Number Correctly

Z100 is the total of both sides. It is not 100 g/m² per side. Some buyers compare Z100 with a US G-class and expect the same zinc. G30, for example, is about Z90. Ask for the coat in g/m² on the certificate, so both sides read the same number.

How Coat Affects Price

Zinc is priced separately from steel on world markets. When zinc rises, the gap between Z100 and Z275 widens. A lighter coat, where it is enough, is one of the easiest ways to cut coil cost without cutting quality.

Frequently Asked Questions

What does DX51D Z100 mean?

DX51D is an EN 10346 steel grade for cold forming. Z100 is a pure zinc coat of at least 100 g/m², both sides combined. Together they describe a light-coated galvanized steel for painted and indoor use.

Is DX51D Z100 galvanized steel suitable for roofing?

Yes, when it is color-coated. Many PPGI roofing sheets use Z100 base. For bare galvanized roofing, Z100 is too light. Choose Z180 or Z275 instead.

What is the difference between DX51D Z100 and DX51D Z275?

Only the zinc coat. Z275 carries 2.75 times the zinc of Z100. It lasts much longer outdoors but costs more. The steel grade and forming behavior are the same.

How thick is the zinc on Z100?

About 7 µm per side, or 14 µm in total. Thickness varies slightly across the width. The certificate gives the tested coat in g/m².

Can I order DX51D Z100 as slit coil?

Yes. We slit DX51D Z100 coil on our own slitting line, from 15 mm wide, for studs, trays and tube mills. Send each width, the number of cuts per master coil and your unwinding direction.

Why do DX51D Z100 prices change so often?

The price follows hot-rolled coil and zinc markets, which move weekly. Thickness, width and order size also matter. Send your full designation and quantity for a current quote.
